Ratched Plot

Ratched is a thriller following the somber origin story of Mildred Ratched. In 1947, Mildred arrives in California seeking employment as a nurse. She lands a job at financially strapped Lucia State Psychiatric Hospital where new and unsettling experiments are afoot. Her exterior is that of a stylish, do-gooder typical nurse but she has underlying smoldering darkness. Mildred's character is a complex one; she is charming, compassionate, disconnected, cruel, flinty all rolled into a single entity. Ratched's past is entangled with that of Edmund Tolleson who is responsible for the murder of four Catholic priests. Edmund is sent to Lucia State to see whether he is mentally fit for his trial. At Lucia, she meets other individualistic personalities whose lives and decisions begin to affect Ratched in an unexpected way. She also meets Gwendolyn Briggs who despite Mildred's never-ending manipulations, continues to love her.
