Barrister Babu Plot

Anirudh Roy Choudhary comes back to India after completing his law degree and has recently become a barrister. He is in love with his childhood friend, Saudamini, and plans to marry her. Meanwhile, Bondita Das is an eight-yr old girl from a destitute family whose uncle has arranged for her to marry an old man. On the day of the wedding, Bondita’s husband-to-be dies in the wedding pavilion, causing everyone to blame Bondita for menacing and bringing about death. Fortunately, Anirudh is also present at the wedding, and in a sudden turn of circumstances, he agrees to marry Bondita in order to silence everyone and also to protect Bondita from performing sati. After Anirudh brings her home, Bondita must make the best of the difficulties that ensue in her journey to becoming a barrister herself, in this social drama defying norms of pre-independence India.
