Away Plot

Away follows Emma, an astronaut who is selected by NASA for the first crewed Mars expedition, called Mars Joint Initiative. It is an international mission that is co-funded by five countries, namely India, America, Russia, China, and Britain. Emma is to lead a team of four people who all hail from different professions as well as different ethnic backgrounds and have no prior experience in space. The story follows the crew as they tackle their personal lives while floating in space. Emma’s husband, who is also an astronaut, is diagnosed with a deadly disease that deeply disturbs Emma. This leads to a fatal accident in the spaceship after which the crew loses trust in her. Emma struggles to keep herself sane, while also trying hard not to fail her crew members. Away is a deeply affecting tale about humanity, loss, and the profound nature of hope.
