Shukranu Plot

Set in an orthodox North Indian culture, a period somewhere during the 1970s, majority rights were suspended. Men were fiercely sterilised as an outrageous populace control measure. Inder, aka Bittu, a factory worker gives up pursuing true love and chooses to settle with an arranged marriage. However, on his way towards his wedding, Bittu is kidnapped by government officials and forced to sterilize. Too embarrassed to admit what exactly occurred, he proceeds with the pre-marriage ceremony. On the wedding night, his wife Reema notices his reluctance and concludes that Inder suffers from performance anxiety. Guaranteed by a specialist that sterilisation has nothing to do with sexuality, Inder finally engages relations with Reema. Things get really confusing when Reema shows up pregnant a few days later. Was it Inder? Or someone else?
