The Ballad of Buster Scruggs – the ballad of a happy-go-lucky cowboy, Buster Scruggs who is the fastest gun drawer in the whole west but gets defeated by a fast young lad in a duel. This makes him realize – “you can’t be top dog forever”.

Near Algodones – A Young Cowboy robs a bank and fails to evade his chasers. He is brought down sub-conscious and wake up being sentenced to death. A series of perfect events save him from death.

The movie is about 4 more such disconnected short emotional stories depicting a crazy side of the west, it touches the sad, humorous, criminal and dark parts of the land and people.

Interesting Note: The Ballad of Buster Scruggs also enjoyed a limited theatrical release to be eligible for Oscars.

Realizing that they are stuck with each other for quite some time, they release their thoughts and manage to find good in each other.

A Star is Born
